As a leader in the relations between the U.S. and Latin America, the University of Miami has uniquely positioned itself to provide a global perspective to its students. It is located in a city that has long been a bridge between the U.S. and Latin American economies and currently has students enrolled from 121 different nations.

As the University of Miami continues to grow, it aspires to develop its students as global citizens who have prominent voices in the global conversation. In his inaugural address University of Miami President, Julio Frenk shared his vision to become THE hemispheric university stating; “We are on track to become a force for integration across the Americas, and ultimately, throughout the world.”

UOnline, the University of Miami’s latest expansion into postgraduate online education, has further increased the university’s reach by offering online graduate programs to students located all across the world without requiring them to leave their country.

International students participate in the same rigorous University of Miami curriculum that is taught on-campus and have access to the same prestigious on-campus faculty members, many of whom have both global academic and professional experience, including:

Dr. George Korniotis, an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami, School of Business Administration, who completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Cyprus and received his doctorate from Yale University, where American Nobel Laureate Robert Shiller, Ph.D. mentored him.  Additionally, he served as an Economist in the Risk Analysis Section of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. from 2006 – 2010.

In the classroom, Dr. Korniotis encourages students to think about the economy and finance using a global perspective, “The topics and the way I teach them are based on my own experience as an academic and as someone who has worked in the Federal Reserve.”

Dr. Sandro C. Andrade, an Associate Professor of Finance, was a Senior Advisor at the Central Bank of Brazil before becoming a full-time professor at the University of Miami. His current research focuses on international finance, investments, and emerging markets. He currently teaches several graduate courses in the University of Miami, School of Business Administration, including online courses within the online MBA program.

As an online student, International students can expect to immerse themselves into a globally diverse intersection of students, all of whom also have diverse personal and professional experiences. Current UOnline students hold positions at global organizations including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, United Arab Emirates, Deutsche Bank, Sotheby’s International Realty, Marriott Hotels, and The Boeing Company.

In the classroom, students from different cultures across the globe are able to share their viewpoints during class discussions, interactive learning sessions, group projects, and optional on-campus networking opportunities. Once international students graduate UOnline, they receive the same University of Miami diploma they would receive if they had attended their program on-campus.

Additionally, UOnline students will become a member of the University’s 160,000+ global alumni network, gaining access to exclusive alumni events and networking opportunities.
