The faculty who teach the University of Miami’s online course come from different backgrounds and are experts in vastly different fields. However, they all have one key character trait in common: they share a deep sense of responsibility to equipping students with the tools needed to be successful. In a new series of blog posts, we will be putting a spotlight on faculty members from different UOnline graduate programs. Meet Lecturer Amy Agramonte, MBA.
Owner and creative director of Blond Concepts, a graphic design, and marketing studio, UOnline Lecturer Amy Agramonte is an expert marketer with over fifteen years of professional experience. She is also a content developer and faculty director for the University of Miami’s online MBA program where she currently teaches Marketing 660, Foundations of Marketing.
Before founding her own graphic design and marketing studio in 2007, Amy worked in numerous industries including real estate, tourism, and hospitality where she was actively engaged in the creative and consumer-driven side of the business. A professor at the University of Miami since 2015, Amy is a Cane’ for Life, completing both her undergraduate degree and MBA from UM.
Amy currently teaches MBA courses both on-campus and online. In her all her curriculums, she uses her professional expertise to help business students develop marketing and entrepreneurial skills.
“I have students complete a project where they have to create a new service or product and build an entire marketing campaign. It allows me to inject my professional perspective into the projects rather than just stick to teaching from a textbook. The project becomes a really tangible space to help students tap into their creativity.”
As a professor, she is determined to help students understand the multifaceted opportunities for marketing within their current industry. She frequently uses her own clients as examples and provides students with opportunities to engage with similar organizations and businesses within the classroom.
“When students take my marketing course, I want them to step outside their comfort zone and think outside the box. The course not only helps students communicate with clients but also work better within teams and navigate the world of business. Students will learn who their audiences are and become better advocates for themselves.”
Amy also ensures her online students receive the same quality of education that can be found on-campus by providing extensive and critical feedback on assignments and making herself regularly available by phone or email. She also encourages students to visit the campus in-person to meet face-to-face when possible.
As a UOnline faculty member, Lecturer Amy Agramonte is there for her students and dedicated to their success inside and outside of the classroom.
“I think the MBA program is great for a student who is a self-starter and high achiever. Especially if you are working professionally. As a working professional and mother, I can’t imagine going back on campus and taking a class. For students who require flexibility and a different schedule, online works best.”
