July 08, 2020

The Miami Herbert Business School advanced 19 places in the Business Administration subject ranking of the 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities by academic subjects.

Miami Herbert ranked #22 in the world in Business Administration, up from #41 in 2019.

“This latest ranking highlights the Miami Herbert Business School’s excellence in research,” said Henrik Cronqvist, vice dean for graduate business programs and executive education at Miami Herbert Business School. “It is also a strong indicator of the world-class talent of our faculty, whose research is impacting and transforming the business landscape.”

The Academic Ranking of World Universities, published since 2009 by the independent Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, scores more than 4,000 global universities across 54 subjects in five categories (natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences) based on the number of papers authored by an institution in an academic subject, the ratio of citation of papers published to the average citations of papers in the same category, the number of papers published in top journals, the amount of international collaboration and the total number of staff members that have won significant awards.

The methodology of the 2020 ranking is different from its previous rankings. In years prior, the total number of publications in journals indexed in the Web of Science was included. In 2020, this metric has been replaced by publications in Q1 journals meaning that only publications in the top 25% of journals – based on Journal Impact Factor – were considered.
