The Unstoppable Women Leaders of Telemundo

There was plenty of good advice and inspiration during Miami Herbert’s 2nd Annual Women in Leadership Program, an executive education program developed specifically for Telemundo.

“Our goal with this program is to elevate the impact of women leaders,” said Rony Shir, executive director of executive education. “Women face unique challenges in the workplace, but they also add exceptional value and perspective, and we want to empower them to confidently navigate the business landscape, develop their talents, and step into roles of greater influence.”

Thirty female leaders from Telemundo participated in 10 days and two modules of online learning filled with live simulations, panel discussions, experiential learning activities, team building exercises and professional assessments. Dean John Quelch and Beau Ferrari, Chairman of Telemundo, strong advocates of the program, kicked off the program with welcome remarks to the participants.

Lleni Sandoval, Vice President of Human Resources for Telemundo worked closely with Shir on the design of the program.

“Our partnership with Miami Herbert equips women leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to confidently navigate the corporate world,” said Sandoval. “Due to the pandemic, this year’s program was conducted fully online. I was impressed with how seamlessly Miami Herbert faculty and Executive Education Team transitioned to online learning—they did not skip a beat. The program was highly interactive with a lot of versatility in each session. Participants left with new ideas, skills, confidence, and fresh perspectives to add more value to Telemundo.”

Miami Herbert faculty and alumni participated in various roles throughout the program, which brought a unique research-driven and transformative experience, conducted fully online.

“Designing a virtual 10-day program required a shift in our strategy,” said Shir. “Not only did we ensure zoom participantthe program was highly interactive, we were committed to delivering an event of the caliber you expect from Miami Herbert Business School. In essence we had to create a virtual ecosystem.”
