POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE BECAUSE OF HURRICANE IRMA.
On Wednesday, September 6th, 2017, the Graduate School, in collaboration with the Writing Center and UM Libraries, will offer two information sessions about Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) in Richter Library, from 9:30-10:30am in the third floor Conference Room and 4:00-5:00pm in the Info Lit Lab (room 344).

Graduate students from all disciplines are invited to attend this comprehensive session to learn about the ETD process and what University research, writing, and final document preparation resources are available to support them.

Doreen Yamamoto, Associate Director of Programs at the Graduate School, will talk about what students can expect when they are ready to submit the final thesis, dissertation, or doctoral essay.

The team from UM Libraries will talk about research resources in the library that can make life easier for the student at the beginning or in the throes of writing, including knowledgeable reference librarians versed in a variety of research topics; special collections; databases available by subscription only; and more.

Representatives from the Writing Center will talk about the writing support they provide students via writing events co-sponsored with the Graduate School and the Center’s on-site tutors.

Representatives from the ETD Support Team in Richter Library will talk about Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro assistance they provide.

“There’s a lot of planning and attention to detail that goes into submitting the final thesis or dissertation so it’s best for students to know as much as possible about the process beforehand,” said Doreen. “This session walks students through the process and is intended to reassure them that UM will support them all along the way.”
