Amy Perez has been named the permanent assistant dean of the Office of Career and Professional Development

The office supports the career paths of the Miami Law community of students, alumni, and employers to assist them with their job search, professional development, and careers. It also helps employers with recruitment needs and connects them to Miami Law.

During Perez's time as assistant dean in the office, she has focused on creating innovative programs and initiatives to enhance engagement with students, alumni, and employers. These include "Career Talk on the Bricks" and partnerships with the Academic Achievement Program, HOPE, and student organizations.

"I look forward to taking our already strong career office to the next level to best meet the needs of today's students, alumni and employers," said Perez.

Perez designed the 1L Student Engagement Program, a collaboration this fall with the Office of Student Affairs to ensure that every member of the 1L class connects with resources to support their academic, career, and personal success. She also oversees utilizing technology and social media to broaden the OCPD's reach and effectiveness.

"I am thankful to Perez for having served as interim dean of the office since spring of 2022. Since then, she has deftly led the office, and it is a natural segue that she will permanently oversee the OCPD," said David Yellen, dean and M. Minnette Massey Professor of Law.

Perez began her career at Miami Law in 2010 in the career development office, serving as an associate director and director of judicial clerkships. She later served in several student affairs roles, most recently as the assistant dean of students. She has held numerous leadership positions within the National Association for Law Placement, including chair of the Newer Professionals Section, Judicial Clerkships Section, and Lawyer and Law Student Well-Being Task Force. In 2019, she earned NALP's Service Excellence Award and Miami Law's Society of Bar and Gavel's Guillermo Padron Staff Service Award.

"Amy is already off to a great start at OCPD," said Yellen. "I am confident she is the right person to play this essential role at the School of Law."
