The University of Miami School of Architecture continues to expand and strengthen its network in the Caribbean by creating new partnerships and launching initiatives with existing partners. Dean Rodolphe el-Khoury and Associate Dean Carmen Guerrero visited the three leading institutions in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic to pave the road for multiple forms of collaboration involving research, teaching, course sharing, graduate student recruitment, and student exchange. Faculty and leadership from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena, Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre e Maestra, and Universidad Iberoamericana welcomed the U-SoA team with great excitement and interest to increase their student awareness of the School of Architecture,  given the prestige and geographical proximity of U-SoA.

Additionally, a result of this networking trip was the invitation by the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic to partner with U-SoA on a new government project centered on the reconstitution of colonial heritage. This project collaboration will begin in the Spring 2019 semester by way of an upper-level studio led by Jaime Correa and Carmen Guerrero.
