Originally built in the late 1940s, Building 37 was one of a series of campus apartment buildings built for returning veteran students and their families. It was later used as campus housing for non-veteran students and then converted into office space for University departments.

Site work began this week to prepare for the construction of the School of Architecture's Thomas P. Murphy Design Studio and the Department of Housing and Residential Life's Student Housing Village. This work includes the demolition of Building 37, as well as plans to begin tree relocation, root pruning and underground utility work later this summer.
