SONHS Faculty Members Named Nurse.com Nursing Excellence Regional Winners

Two faculty members of the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) have been named 2013 Florida Nurse.com Nursing Excellence regional winners.
Dr. Doris Ugarriza, Professor and Vice-Dean, was selected in the category of “Volunteerism and Service” and Dr. Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda, Assistant Professor and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar, was honored for her contributions in “Advancing and Leading the Profession”. Dr. Ugarriza was chosen for her indelible contributions to nursing science and education around the globe. Dr. Rosa Gonzalez is being recognized for her commitment to health disparities research.

Nurse.com’s prestigious annual Nursing Excellence Awards honor superior nurses in regions across the country, leading to the selection of National Nurses of the Year. As regional winners, Ugarriza and Gonzalez-Guarda will move on to Nurse.com’s national program representing the Florida region. The six national winners will be announced in Fall 2013.
