10 spots for photo ops on campus

Picture what it’s like to be a Miami Hurricane!
10 spots for photo ops on campus

1. U statue at the Rock Plaza

You can’t leave campus without getting a pic in front of (or on) the U statue. This icon located in the heart of campus celebrates the confidence and swagger that makes UMiami’s brand. There’s only one U and it’s here in Coral Gables.

2. Shalala Student Center third floor balcony

Get a new perspective of campus from the balcony of the Shalala student center. Not only will you catch the breeze coming off Lake Osceola, you also get amazing views of campus and the new housing village. Bonus points – you can also recreate the scene from Drakes’ “God’s Plan” video if you have a friend, family member, or current ’Cane take your pic from down below 🙌

3. Fate Bridge

This majestic spot is the perfect place to capture the golden hour glow that reflects off Lake Osceola at sunset.

4. Miami Herbert Business School courtyard

See things in a new light. In the middle of the Miami Herbert Business School, look up to see a geometric heart-like cutout. This patch of sky serves as the backdrop to magnificent palms framed by flags from around the world.

5. Lakeside Village

Outside of our new housing village are beach volleyball courts and grassy areas that showcase the lake.

6. The Fountains of UM

Our personal favorite is in front of the Merrick Building.

7. Frost School of Music circle

The circle in the Foster building is the perfect spot to showcase your orange and green swag, with crisp white backdrops and geometric negative space.

8. School of Architecture patio

Most people think palm trees when they think of Miami, but it’s the mighty oak that reigns in Coral Gables. The oak tree canopy at the architecture courtyard is the perfect spot to get a photo with the quintessential filtered light coming through the leaves along with award-winning buildings flanking all sides.

9. Shalala Steps

In front of the Shalala Student center, students sit, study, mingle, or just reflect on the steps by the lake. These natural beauties are formed by grass covered Miami limestone, which comprises the Atlantic Coastal Ridge in southeastern Florida.

10. The Bronze Ibis at the Newman Alumni Center

In front of the alumni center is a solid bronze statue of Sebastian the Ibis, our favorite bird, and the best mascot in college athletics!
