Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition 2019: Applications are open!

On the heels of our most successful 3MT Competition yet, the Graduate School and the Graduate Student Association are excited to begin the search for our 2019 competitors. The Graduate School will host an information session for prospective competitors on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, 5:00-6:00 p.m., at the Ashe Administration Building, room 237.

This unique research-oriented event gives doctoral students the opportunity to persuasively present their dissertation topic before a live audience in less than three minutes, using a single PowerPoint slide. Participation in the 3MT® Competition can help students strengthen academic and presentation skills while promoting cross-departmental connections and interdisciplinary work. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the winner, runner-up, and people’s choice winner.

If you are (or know of) a doctoral student at the University who meets the following criteria, submit a competitor application today and be a part of this one-of-a-kind event!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Student must be an active doctoral student in good academic standing
  • Student must be admitted to candidacy
  • The student’s dissertation must be near-completion prior to the date of the competition, as it is important that analyses have been completed and results and conclusions generated that can then be presented at the competition

Applications are due on Monday, October 1, 2018.
