Faculty Lecture Series: Professor Mary Anne Franks

The Faculty Lecture Series continues on Wednesday, March 23 with Professor Mary Anne Franks. She will present "How to Feel Like a Woman, or, Why Punishment is a Drag" in the Law School's 4th floor faculty meeting room. The lecture begins at 12:35 p.m., following a lunch at noon in the same room. A question and answer session will follow after the lecture.

Before joining the Miami Law faculty, Professor Franks was a Bigelow Fellow and Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, and her D.Phil and M.Phil from Oxford University, where she studied on a Rhodes Scholarship. Before she began teaching law, Prof. Franks taught courses in social theory and philosophy at Harvard University, where she received four Distinction in Teaching Awards. She has also worked as a Senior Consultant for the SAB Group, a negotiation consulting firm.

Her research and teaching interests include criminal law, cyberlaw, discrimination, law and social norms, and law and gender.
