Renowned Expert Teaches Advanced Music Copyright Course at Miami Law

"I applaud the pioneering spirit," said Visiting Professor David Nimmer who recognizes Miami Law as the first and only school to introduce an interdisciplinary J.D/M.M. degree, which provides students with an avenue to understand the legal side of the music industry. "I'm grateful the Dean recognized the need right from the get-go to add special avenues of education, and was delighted to be part of the faculty."

Mr. Nimmer, Of Counsel to Irrell & Manella LLP in Los Angeles as well as Professor from Practice at UCLA School of Law, recently completed teaching Applied Topics in Advanced Music Copyright Law, one of a series of short-courses being taught this semester. Nimmer was named one of California's "Top 10 Copyright Lawyers" in 2008 and is well-known for updating and revising Nimmer on Copyright.

During his week at Miami Law, Nimmer also presented a well-attended evening lecture titled "In Search of Copyright's Lost Ark".

Nimmer's class followed another well-respected legal professional Harold Flegelman who taught The Art of the Deal: Acquiring a Music Publishing Catalog, during the first week of the spring semester.
