The Hausler Golden Apple Award is awarded to the faculty member who contributes the most to the student body both in academics and in his or her extracurricular activities. The award honors Richard A. Hausler who was a beloved professor for 52 years at the University of Miami School of Law, and who inspired legions of students to achieve the highest levels of excellence.

"I'm very humbled and thrilled to receive this award," said Redmond, who is also a shareholder at Stearns, Weaver, Miller, Weissler, Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A. in Miami. "All I do is spend time with some really smart and terrific students."

Under Redmond's leadership, the Bankruptcy Assistance Clinic earned the Put Something Back pro bono award from the Dade County Bar and Legal Aid Society in 2008. Additionally, she has coached several moot court teams at Miami Law to great success over the past decade.

Past recipients of the Hausler Golden Apple Award include Miami Law Professors Anthony Alfieri, Stephen Urice, Bernard Perlmutter, and Karen Throckmorton, Director of Miami's STREET LAW Program.
