He will present "Immigration and Social Solidarity in a Time of Crisis: Europe and the U.S. in the New Century" in the Law School's 4th floor faculty meeting room. The lecture begins at 12:35 p.m., following a lunch at noon in the same room. A question and answer session will follow after the lecture.
Professor Abraham joined Miami Law in 1991. He teaches Property, Immigration & Citizenship Law, Citizenship and Identity, Law and the Transition to Capitalism and Law and Social Theory. He has been widely published in each of those areas as well as serving as a frequent media commentator for American, German, and Israeli newspapers and television.
Professor Abraham has been a Visiting Professor at Tuebingen University in Germany, Deakin University in Australia, the École des Hautes Études in Paris, and the Transitional Justice Institute in Belfast. In the Spring 2010 semester, Abraham was UM's first Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin. While in Berlin, Professor Abraham worked on a manuscript analyzing the transformation of Citizenship in an era of neo-liberal globalization.
