Founded in 1971, NALP is a nonprofit association dedicated to continuously improving career counseling and planning, recruitment and retention, and the professional development of law students, lawyers, and its members. Today the membership of NALP includes every ABA-accredited law school in the U.S., numerous Canadian law schools, and more than 900 of the largest law firms and legal employers. Within those organizations, NALP's member representatives head law school career development offices and law firm and legal employer recruiting and professional development departments.
Cox has been with Miami Law since 1997 and was previously a practicing attorney. She earned her B.A. degree at the University of Southern California, a J.D. at the University of California Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), and an M.F.A. at the University of Miami School of Communication.
Her past service to NALP has been extensive and includes stints as Treasurer; as Southeast Regional Director; as Chair of the Diversity Section, the Nominating Committee, the Awards of Distinction Committee, the Audit Committee, and the Investment Oversight Committee; as a member of numerous other committees and work groups; and as a speaker at past conferences.
As NALP President, Cox will not only head the NALP Board of Directors and Executive Committee but also represent the association as a liaison to other law-related organizations.
