President Barack Obama Appoints Miami Law Alumna Tamara Toussaint

Tamara Toussaint, JD '08, has been appointed to serve as a member with the Commission on Presidential Scholars. The group was first established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President to honor graduating high school students. As one of the Commissioners, Toussaint will assist in recognizing up to 141 students who are given the honor of Presidential Scholar each year.

"I am grateful these accomplished men and women have agreed to join this Administration, and I'm confident they will serve ably in these important roles. I look forward to working with them in the coming months and years," said President Obama.

While at Miami Law, Tamara was involved with the Black Law Students Association, the Business Law Council and the Entertainment and Sports Law Society. As a second-year law student she managed to work for the City Attorney for the City of Hialeah and intern for the Warrior's Boxing Promotions in Hollywood, FL where she drafted agreements between fighter, promoter and manager. She also assisted in building strong relationships with fighters and helped in developing fighters into reputable commodities.

After graduating, Toussaint became the Diversity and Program Coordinator at Miami Law. Now as an Atlanta, GA resident, Toussaint works as the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for Ford & Harrison LLP, a labor and employment law firm with eighteen offices.
