ABA Presents Miami Law with National Achievement Award

This week, Miami Law's HOPE Public Interest Resource Center was presented with the 2011 National Achievement Award in Public Interest at the annual American Bar Association meeting. The Law School Division of the ABA honored Miami Law for its commitment to public interest work and public service.

"Miami Law encourages public interest heavily," said Student Bar Association President Jihan "Gigi" Soliman who was in Toronto to receive the award on behalf of the law school. Soliman was personally attracted to Miami Law because of its investment in helping the community. "To see that it's actually being recognized nationally is really touching."

Miami Law's HOPE Public Interest Resource Center helps students understand the array of public interest opportunities and provides information, guidance and training to law students dedicated to community service and advocacy. Opportunities include an array of clinics such as the Bankruptcy Assistance Clinic, Capital Defense Project, Children & Youth Law Clinic, Community Lawyering Clinic, Federal Appellate Clinic, Health & Elder Law Clinic, Human Rights Clinic, Immigration Clinic, Miami Innocence Project, Tenants' Rights Clinic and programs such as The Center for Ethics and Public Service, Miami Street Law and externships and fellowships in the public sector.
