In partnership with the Legal Writing Institute, a non-profit organization, the one-day training workshop will bring legal-writing experts to campus to share best practices and innovations in teaching legal writing, persuasion and legal research. Miami Law's workshop will feature speakers from 11 law schools nationwide, as well as the Office of the General Counsel for Florida's Eleventh Judicial Circuit.
"This conference allows Miami Law to be at the forefront of legal writing and research education," says Associate Professor Rosario Lozada Schrier, who is the director of Legal Communication and Research Skills. "The cutting-edge instruction we offer our students in legal communication and research skills will enable them to excel as legal professionals and will distinguish them in today's competitive legal market."
With more than 75 years of combined law practice experience, LComm faculty teach a required first-year course in which students learn the practical skills of effective written analysis, legal research and oral advocacy. Beyond the first year of law school, LComm faculty members also offer courses in legal communication, persuasion and advocacy.
Miami Law is one of 13 law schools in the country hosting a workshop in conjunction with the Legal Writing Institute. Miami Law's workshop will be held at the Newman Alumni Center on the Coral Gables campus.
