"I am grateful for this award and excited for the recognition by one of the nation's top employment law firms," Lovings said. "I am humbled to have been selected from the applicants who applied to Constangy, Brooks & Smith's Diversity Scholar Award. This award encourages me to continue to find ways to contribute to my community and to a focus on diversity in Florida, my new home."

Lovings, who hails from San Francisco, Calif., is the president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association at Miami Law. She has also been a member of the Labor & Employment Law Students Association, as well as Miami Law Women.

Prior to attending Miami Law, Lovings worked as an account executive in Dallas, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Phoenix and has spent the past nine years volunteering at soup kitchens, homeless shelters, HIV/AIDS services and other community projects.

"Prior to law school, I had a strong focus on diversity in my work as a litigation support sales consultant," Lovings said. "In Dallas, I was the only vendor to support all of the minority bar associations through membership, sponsorship, and/or involvement for the four years prior to law school."

Constangy, Brooks & Smith is a labor and employment law firm. It received the Exceptional Service Award presented by the Georgia Diversity Program of the State Bar of Georgia, and maintains a Diversity Council comprised of attorneys from across its offices to address issues and promote diversity within the firm. The firm created the Diversity Scholars Award in 2006.
