Lucking is an attorney based in Coral Gables and a member of the Medical Sciences Institutional Review Board at the University of Miami. She is also a board member at Epworth Village, Inc.
In her new post at the Miami-Dade Commission For Women, Lucking will oversee the endeavors of a body that was founded by the feminist leader Roxcy Bolton and created by the Board of County Commissioners in 1971. The panel, formerly called the Commission on the Status of Women, is part of the Office of Community Relations, in the Office of the County Manager.
Its 26 members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to serve in an advisory capacity to the board, to the community and to all agencies and persons in Miami-Dade County "with respect to all matters pertaining to the status of women," according to its website.
"I know you will do an outstanding job," Georgina Angones, Assistant Dean for Law Development and Alumni Relations at Miami Law, wrote in a congratulatory note to Lucking. "The members of the School of Law Alumni Association join me in congratulating you and telling you how very proud we are of your accomplishment."
According to the panel's website, the membership of the Commission for Women reflects the diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds represented in Miami-Dade County so that the concerns of all women are addressed. The commission monitors, among other things, the condition of women as related to discrimination, employment, education, and attitudes toward women in the community.
Lucking was formerly General Counsel at SoLapharm Inc., and Senior Career Attorney at the Florida Third District Court of Appeal.
