"I am so happy to be back at the University of Miami School of Law," Schimel said. "The Academic Achievement Program is regarded as a pioneer in law school academics, and I'm excited to help build upon that tradition of excellence. Joanne and I are developing a variety of new programs and initiatives to help students achieve their maximum potential in law school, from 1L orientation all the way through the bar exam. We are looking at the needs of our students with a fresh perspective, and I think we are going to have a really successful year."
Schimel has been an associate at Bilzin Sumberg for the past three years, where he practiced in the real estate area. While a law student, he was a Dean's Fellow and presented popular and widely-attended "exam-taking" workshops for fellow law students. In 2012 he published a book, Law School Exams — A Guide to Better Grades.
"I am delighted that Alex has decided to join us here at the School of Law," said Koren. "His creativity, intellect and insight will enrich and expand the offerings of the Academic Achievement Program.
