Besides mentoring and being a Board Member for Drug Free Youth In Town (DFYIT), Williams is a summer intern at the trial and appellate firm Podhurst Orseck as he pursues a joint JD/MBA degree at the University of Miami School of Law.
A 23-year-old native of Livermore, Calif., Williams is accustomed to juggling lots of components at once. While at the University of California, Berkeley, Williams obtained a double degree in Sociology and Political Economy while playing football and running track.
At Miami Law, where he is a rising second-year student, Williams is leaving sports to others while directing his energies toward his work with HOPE Public Interest Resource Center and infecting teens with his enthusiasm for higher education. "I strongly believe as a young adult myself that having a positive figure in one's life, encouraging them in the right direction, is monumental," Williams said. "As one grows, there are many decisions presented and it can be hard, at times, to make the right one. I know, from my own personal experiences, the impact proper guidance can bring. Looking back on my path thus far, I see how the people in my life have all taken part in steering me to where I am at today."
Marni B. Lennon, Assistant Dean for Public Interest and Pro Bono and the Director of HOPE, said Williams is one to watch: "I applaud Aric's commitment to serving those in the community. While developing his legal skills, he is creating exceptional opportunities for Miami Law students to engage in service."
