Schwartz has focused her 15 years of practice on LGBT family formation and dissolution matters. Along the way, she has devoted countless hours to pro bono matters, community projects, and advocacy efforts to help advance LGBT rights in the South Florida community and nationally. In addition to her LGBT work, Schwartz is active with the Miami Beach Bar Association and serves as its President-elect. She is also Parliamentarian of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation's Women's Philanthropy, and serves in several other organizations.

For her efforts and advocacy, Schwartz has been recognized by the Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, the Dade County Bar Association, the City of Miami Beach Commission for Women, the Aqua Foundation for Women, and the National LGBT Bar Association, among others. In 2010, the Law Alumni Association gave her an Alumna of Distinction Award, and in 2012 she was tapped for membership into Iron Arrow.

The Miami Recognition Dinner was established 16 years ago to recognize men and women who stand out and stand up for LGBT rights. Proceeds from the event benefit the GLBT Community Projects Fund at the Miami Foundation.
