Honors for Director of Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning

Tina Portuondo, director of the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning and the Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning, has been elected as an honorary fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. She has also been asked to serve on the organization's programming committee.

"Tina Portuondo is a highly regarded lawyer who has made and who continues to make substantial contributions to the trust and estates field," said Louis A. Mezzullo, president of ACTEC, the organization's acronym. "ACTEC is pleased to recognize her leadership role in the profession and we look forward to her positive impact on the future of the college."

Established in 1949, ACTEC is a professional association of 2,600 trust and estate lawyers and law professors elected by their peers to membership based on contributions to the fields of trust and estate law, tax law and estate planning. ACTEC offers technical comments about the law and its effective administration, but does not take positions on matters of policy or political objectives.

The two-semester program offers comprehensive coverage of both the tax and non-tax issues involved in the planning process, and prepares its graduates for a sophisticated estate planning practice.
