This was a significant triumph for Monique Young and her husband who had purchased a 40 acre property in Helendale, California in 2003 as an investment vehicle for their family. Their dream was almost realized as they began to receive lucrative offers from several interested investors during the height of the real estate market. However, these dreams were thwarted when Defendant, Second Harvest Food Bank turned a large portion of Mrs. Young's property into a public nuisance by dumping hundreds of thousands of pounds of unusable donations on her property without her permission or knowledge. At trial, Walls-Fox argued that between 2005 and 2007, Second Harvest Food Bank essentially used the property as its personal landfill under the guise of providing feed to Tommie McDaniel, a local pig farmer squatting on the property, because it was cheaper than properly disposing of the waste. Walls-Fox was successful in proving that Second Harvest Food Bank failed to perform any due diligence to verify whether they had the right to deliver its waste on the Young's property. The court found wholly in Young's favor and awarded her cleanup costs as well as the costs of bringing the lawsuit.
In addition to her time spent in court, Walls-Fox volunteers as the Regional Chair of the School of Law Alumni Committee – Western Region. In that capacity she works to develop and strengthen relationships with School of Law alumni and the Los Angeles legal community. She is also active as an alumni mentor to both undergraduate and graduate students at her alma maters.
A native of Los Angeles, CA, Walls-Fox graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with her Bachelor of Arts in History. While at UCLA, she participated as a tutor and mentor in the ground breaking PALS Program, volunteered her time as a Unicamp counselor and was chosen as a UCLA Law Fellow. In 2006, Ms. Walls-Fox graduated cum laude from Miami Law.
While a student at Miami Law, she was an active member of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society (ESLS), serving as the 2005-2006 ESLS President and the 2004-2005 ESLS Vice President of Sports. She was also a member of Phi Alpha Delta, the Black Law Students Association as well as a student member of the American Bar Association Sports and Entertainment Law Section and the Florida Bar Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Section. In recognition of her research, analytical, and writing skills, Walls-Fox was invited to join the Inter-American Law Review (IALR) in the Fall Semester of 2004, and served as a Staff Editor from 2004-2005. As the 2005-2006 IALR Symposium Editor, she brought together several leading scholars on immigration, immigration reform, and Cuban affairs in the thought provoking symposium: "40 Years of the Cuban Adjustment Act – End of an Era?" She was also selected to participate in the 2004-2005 Miami-Leipzig Seminars, a set of bi-national legal seminars on developing international controversies.
Upon returning to Los Angeles in 2006, Walls-Fox joined Bonner Law, P.C, a premiere boutique entertainment law firm. In 2007, she joined the Law Offices of Milton C. Grimes, P.C. and her practice expanded to include the areas of civil rights, criminal defense, and mass tort personal injury litigation.
In 2011, Walls-Fox founded The Walls ~ Fox Firm (TWF), a boutique, client oriented law firm dedicated to providing superior legal services. The firm's primary practice areas include general civil litigation, all aspects of criminal defense litigation in both state and federal court, estate planning, business formation and administration as well as the representation of sports and entertainment talent.
