"This new joint degree program really provides an even better match for those students who are looking for a legal career in the live-music industry," said Sandra Abraham, Executive Liaison for Interdisciplinary Programs and Initiatives at the School of Law.
Similar to the J.D./M.M. program in Music Business and Entertainment, this new program will help students apply their legal knowledge in the areas of contracts, risk management, marketing, and finance to the live entertainment/performance fields. "We believe this new combination is a way for our students with this interest to specialize beyond what the J.D./M.M. program offers," Abraham said.
The joint program allows students to obtain both J.D. and M.A. degrees in three-and-a-half years. The first year is spent in the law school, and semesters three through seven are spent taking both Law and Arts Presenting courses. Students will be required to complete a total of 103 credits for the joint degree.
The new program with the Frost School Music joins the unprecedented array of combined degrees offered by Miami Law.
