Miami Law students from the Professional Responsibility and Ethics Program (PREP)—Jacqueline Frisch, Gina Rhodes, and Danielle Singer—recently presented a CLE training to the South Miami Kendall Bar Association (SMKBA). Under the supervision of PREP Director Jan L. Jacobowitz, the students engaged the attorneys in a lively discussion that centered on modern social media trends and cases concerning professionalism in the practice of law.
Together, the students and attorneys contemplated the ethical issues that may arise when employing cloud computing, neglecting civility in the profession, and creating websites that fail to comply with Florida’s new advertising regulations. Many of the attorneys offered their own opinions based on their personal knowledge and experience.
After the presentation one of SMKBA’s directors, Milene Hernandez, Esq., emailed "Thanks so much for the presentation that you and your students gave at the SMKBA lunch. All of you did an awesome job and it was my favorite presentation since attending these lunches!"
Miami Law student Frisch commented on her experience: "It felt truly rewarding to be able to speak in front of such an animated group of respected attorneys. The questions that they posed and insights that they provided made the discussion extremely interactive and thought-provoking."

PREP Intern Gina Rhodes further commented that, "Discussing key ethical issues in the legal community with members of the South Miami Kendall Bar Association was informative, intriguing, and fun. It truly was a wonderful experience."
The Professional Responsibility and Ethics Program is an award-winning program that was established in 1996 for Miami Law students to create and present CLE trainings for legal professionals. Students in the program have dedicated countless hours to public service and have educated thousands of members of the Florida Bench and Bar. During trainings, students are often able to make a positive impact on attendees by prompting them to consider and reconsider their approaches to some of the toughest ethical dilemmas that may arise in the practice of law.
The ABA recognized PREP in 2012 with its E. Smythe Gambrell Professionalism Award, which is the leading national award that recognizes programs and projects contributing to the understanding and advancement of professionalism among lawyers.
