Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP has generously donated $50,000 to the University of Miami School of Law, which will be used to create the Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod Scholars program.

Two scholarships will be awarded each year to academically qualified second- or third-year law students, each of whom will have a cumulative academic average within the top 10% of his or her class. The School of Law will use $10,000 to award two $5,000 scholarships each year.

Founded in 1926, Miami Law is consistently recognized as one of the top law schools in the country, and more than two-dozen of the firm’s attorneys are Miami Law alumni, including thirteen partners. In addition, partner Brian Adler is an adjunct professor in Real Property and partner Jeffrey L. Rubinger is an adjunct in the LL.M. in Taxation Program where he has taught classes on advanced international taxation and the taxation of financial products. The firm's long-standing relationship with the University was ultimately an important factor in donating the gift.

“As a firm entrenched in the South Florida community, we find it imperative to support our local business and legal community,” said John C. Sumberg, managing partner at Bilzin Sumberg. “We thought a great way to do so would be to establish this scholarship for UM Law students, recognizing and rewarding performance of our community’s future leaders.”

Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP is a commercial law firm with extensive experience in the areas of Business Finance & Restructuring, Corporate, International, Land Development & Government Relations, Litigation, Real Estate and Tax.
