Clinic Director and Lecturer in Law Teresa J. Verges's article, "Opening the Floodgates of Small Customer Claims in FINRA Arbitration" was published in theCardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution. The article explores broker-dealer regulation and conflicts between member conduct rules promulgated by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and recent Supreme Court jurisprudence on class action waivers in pre-dispute arbitration agreements under the Federal Arbitration Act. Director Verges was also invited to serve on the 17-member board of the National Mediation and Arbitration Committee for a three-year term. The NAMC makes recommendations to FINRA on rules, regulations and procedures that govern the conduct of arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution matters before FINRA. The NAMC also makes recommendations regarding recruitment, qualification, training, and evaluation of arbitrators and mediators. Verges directs the Investor Rights Clinic.
