Director of the Investor Rights Clinic and Lecturer, Teresa Verges, recently moderated a panel presentation at the 2015 Practicing Law Institute Securities Arbitration Conference in New York. The presentation addressed the growing problem of elder financial abuse and exploitation, ethical implications for attorneys representing elderly clients, and measures the financial industry can implement to recognize and help curb abuse. Verges also drafted an article titled, “Legal Ethics and an Aging Population: Securities Practitioners’ Roles in Preventing Financial Exploitation of the Elderly,” published by the PLI in connection with the program.
