Professor Bernard Perlmutter, Co-Director of the Children & Youth Law Clinic, delivered a paper at the 34th International Congress on Law and Mental Health held at Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, Austria. He spoke at the conference on a panel on Therapeutic Jurisprudence Approaches to Dealing with Vulnerable Populations. His paper, “Voices from Inside the System: Encouraging Youth Participation in Foster Care Policy Development,” examines how foster children present testimony and develop legislation to reform foster care policy at the state and federal levels. In addition to his teaching duties at the Clinic, Professor Perlmutter teaches Family Law, Transnational Family Law, Children and the Law, and New Directions in Lawyering: Interviewing, Counseling and Attorney-Client Relational Skills at Miami Law.
