Brazilian native Raoni Utimura and Spanish native Ana Lombardia were named the International Arbitration Institute’s scholarship winners at Miami Law. This partial-tuition scholarship is awarded to outstanding students in the White & Case International Arbitration LL.M. Program.
Utimura worked as a senior attorney in Sao Paulo, most recently in consumer law, prior to pursuing his LL.M. degree at Miami Law.
“Miami is one of the top places of cross-border and commercial trade, and it is a solid site of choice for alternative dispute resolution,” said Utimura. “I have chosen the University of Miami for my studies on International Arbitration because of its globally renowned reputation and prestige, faculty, personalized mentorship, and career development opportunities. The International Arbitration Institute supported my dream through a scholarship, which I am very proud of and grateful for."
Lombardia headed the litigation office in the law firm of Marimon Abogados in Madrid, before moving to Miami in early 2015, where she worked in the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She has more than seven years of experience in commercial and civil litigation. After graduating from the White & Case International Arbitration LL.M. program, Lombardia aspires to continue her career working for the Litigation & Arbitration department of an international law firm.
