This spring semester, Miami Law’s International Graduate Law Programs welcomed its first class of LL.M Intensive English Program students. This new three-semester program is designed for students who need to improve their English proficiency before they embark on studying for their International Law LL.M. with a specialization in U.S. and Transnational Law for Foreign Lawyers.
The eight new LL.M. students received their primary law degrees from five countries, including Cuba, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
“We are pleased to welcome this new class of qualified attorneys from around the world,” said Yasminat Assis, Associate Director of the International Graduate Law Programs. “This intensive English program will help students reach a sufficient level of English Language proficiency to succeed in the LL.M program. LL.M students will have a semester with intensive Legal English classes combined with regular law classes.”
During the first semester, students focus on achieving the English language and communication skills necessary to be successful in the LL.M. program.
“I decided to enroll this program because I thought it was going to be helpful to my career,” said Lorena Senra, an attorney from Spain. “Now that I’m in, I know I’ve made one of the best decisions in my life. I had high expectations, and this program is definitely surpassing them."
After successful completion of the first semester, students will join the International Law LL.M. class and proceed with the regular course of studies.
“Regarding the program I have to say that it is very interesting, and joyful,” said Italian Nelea Zagorodniuc . “Moreover I am sure that this program will absolutely improve our English skills. Besides that I have to compliment all the professors because they are not only well prepared but also extremely gentle. I am very positive that this program will challenge and help us to exceed the next level.”
