Maria Rivero - Spain
Originally from Spain, Rivero LL.M. ’11, serves as the Director of ADR Services at the American Arbitration Association in Miami, where she manages Complex Commercial Arbitration and Mediation cases. In thinking back on her time at Miami Law she says, “The knowledge acquired during the classes offered by Jan Paulsson, Nassib Ziade and John Rooney were instrumental in my transition to the arbitration practice. Courses related to International Commercial Arbitration, Advocacy in International Arbitration and Investment Arbitration created the necessary foundation for me to serve as Director of ADR Services.”
Nikolaos Tsolakidis - Germany
A Fulbright Scholar and German national, Tsolakidis LL.M. ‘13 started working as an International Associate with the International Arbitration Practice Group of White & Case, Washington, D.C. after receiving his degree from Miami Law. After that, he went back to his home country, where he finished his Ph.D. in Law and completed a legal traineeship with the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, another highly ranked international arbitration practice in Frankfurt, Germany. Currently, Tsolakidis is a legal trainee with the Special Litigation Unit of the World Bank Group’s Integrity Vice Presidency. Commenting on his time at Miami Law Tsolakidis says, “If you work hard and prove yourself, an LL.M. degree in international arbitration from the University of Miami will open many doors...The faculty consists of the world's most eminent practitioners. The networking opportunities are unparalleled.”
Kristina Klykova - Ukraine
Ukrainian Klykova is currently working on completing the JD portion of her joint J.D./LL.M. degree in International Arbitration. After graduating with her LL.M. degree in 2013, she taught at Miami Law as a Visiting Assistant Professor and then helped with the establishment of Miami Law’s International Arbitration Institute, and the organization of its lectures and events. She has also been actively involved in researching cognitive bias in arbitral decision-making based on Soia Mentschikoff’s 1950s-1960s experiment. Klykova recently passed the New York Bar exam, and is joining White & Case in Washington, D.C. this summer as a summer associate. Reflecting on her time at Miami Law Klykova says, “I am truly thankful to Miami Law for providing me with an opportunity not only to learn, do research, and teach a course to law students, but also to meet with the leading experts and practitioners in the field of international arbitration who inspired me to continuously grow and improve professionally and personally”
