Patricia D. White, Dean of the University of Miami School of Law, released the following statement in response to the massacre at the Orlando nightclub:
"We mourn the horrific massacre which took place in Orlando this past weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones and friends and with those victims who survived this atrocity.
As human beings, we recoil from this assault on our humanity. As members of a community that is deeply committed to celebrating and including people of all races, faiths, nationalities, genders and sexual orientations, we feel especially distressed that this event took place in our state.
As a law school, we renew our pledge to work tirelessly to promote and defend an inclusive society which ensures freedom, tolerance, and security for all."
