Thanks to the White & Case/Carolyn B. Lamm Scholarship, Russian student Madina Lokova has been able to pursue her International Arbitration LL.M.degree at Miami Law.

The White & Case/Carolyn B. Lamm Scholarship was established in 2014 by the law firm in honor of White & Case partner Carolyn B. Lamm, an alumna and visiting professor of Miami Law and a leading practitioner of international law and international arbitration.

"The fact that I received this scholarship is extremely important for me, as it means that my academic and professional achievements were recognized on an international level," says Lokova. "It is a great honor to be awarded this scholarship from Carolyn B. Lamm, an eminent professional and international arbitration specialist and an outstanding example of a woman who made a career in the field of international dispute resolution."

After receiving her Juris Doctorate from Moscow State University in 2010, Lokova worked as an attorney in Moscow and Zurich, most recently for Renova Group of Companies. She has served as an arbitrator in moot court competitions since 2012, including the 23rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna.

"One of the unrivaled features of the White & Case International Arbitration LL.M. Program at Miami Law is to learn directly and get hands-on tips and tools from world-known professionals like Professor Lamm," says Lokova.

The White & Case International Arbitration LL.M. Program provides a unique individualized educational opportunity for a small group of top quality students from a range of countries, wishing to acquire an in-depth grounding in the field of international arbitration as a platform for a successful career. The program - the only one of its kind in the United States - is open to U.S. and foreign-trained law graduates, and is ideal for newcomers to the field or experienced practitioners looking to enrich their skills and knowledge.

"I am excited by the International Arbitration LLM Program’s curriculum and studying opportunities that it provides," says the Moscow native. "I enjoy studying here, and there is no better place for me than Miami Law. The program was designed to cover both the international arbitration electives and the core subjects. This unique combination is something that makes this program especially attractive for me, as it gives me an opportunity to enrich my knowledge in my specialization."

Once she completes her LL.M. degree, Lokova hopes to continue working in the international dispute settlement arena.
