Every year, a select group of students is called forward to accept one of the most prestigious awards the academic community can bestow — selection to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. This exclusive honor is conferred by more than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and is symbolized by the presentation of an award certificate.
Students are nominated to Who’s Who on the basis of academic achievement, service to the university, leadership, citizenship, accomplishments which brought distinction to the university, and potential for future achievement.
This year 14 graduating Miami Law students were named to Who’s Who many of whom participated in various externships, student organizations, judicial clerkships, clinics, and law reviews.

- Nicole Comparato: Editor-in-Chief, University of Miami Law Review; Dean’s List; Co-President of the Florida Bar Law Student Division; UM Ambassador; Intern, UM Athletics Compliance Office; Summer Associate, Weil Gotshal; Published article: “Combating Institutional Censorship of College Journalists: The Need for a Tailored Response to Protect Subsidized Student Newspapers.”
- Paige Comparato: Top student in graduating class; Senior Notes and Comments Editor, University of Miami Law Review; Student Ambassador; Intern, Florida Panthers; Committed to Hogan Lovells following graduation; Published in UMLR “Do Artists Have Real Copyright Protection Against Political Candidates Using their Songs on the Campaign Trail.”
- Nicole Downey Moss: Vice President, Honor Council; Vice President, LAFAC; Student Writing Editor, Inter-American Law Review; Member, Member of Papy Moot Court Board and the Society of Bar & Gavel; Dean’s List.
- Sogol Ghomeshi: Dean’s List; Intern, Judge List Walsh for the National Association of Women Judges; top 20 in the graduating class; Symposium Editor, University of Miami Law Review; member, Immigration Clinic; Summer Associate, Jones Day.
- Elise Haverman: Dean’s List; Articles Editor, International and Comparative Law Review; Papy Moot Court Board member; President, Student Bar Association; following graduation, she will be working at the Broward State Attorney’s office.
- Matthew Keilson: Dean’s List; President, Papy Moot Court Board; Justice in the SBA Supreme Court; participant HOPE Books and Buddies program; several judicial internships and currently an intern at Lewis, Brisbois Brisbois Bisgaard and Smith.
- Randolph Miller-Taylor: Member, Black Law Students Association and Intellectual Property Law Society; Research Assistant to Professor Donald Jones; President, Entertainment and Sports Law Society.
- Luiz Miranda: President, OUTLaw and Intellectual Property Law Association; member, Health Rights Clinic; member, Inter-American Law Review, where he published his article, “Brazil’s New Path to Meaningful Intellectual Property Protection.”; will begin work at Mayer Brown in Chicago in the IP Group.
- Anta Plowden: 11th Circuit Editor, University of Miami Law Review; published article, “Bringing Balance to the Force: The Militarization of America’s Police Force and Its Consequences,” in the UMLR; summer associate, Colson Hicks; will begin working as a first year associate at White & Case after graduation.
- Jean Phillip Shami: Interned at the Department of Justice in Washington D.C.; currently working at Greenspoon Marder’s Health Law practice; Executive Editor, University of Miami Law Review; won two awards for paper, “A Promise Realized? A Critical Review of Accountable Care Organizations Since the Enactment of the Affordable Care Act.”
- Andrea Sinner: Member, University of Miami Law Review; Dean’s List; research assistant, Dean Patricia D. White; judicial intern, Honorable Kathleen Williams, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of FL; CALI Excellence for the Future Award recipient.
- Linet Suarez: Intern, HOPE Summer Public Interest Fellow with Florida Legal Services; member, Health Rights Clinic; Iron Arrow; summer intern, NASA’s Office of General Counsel, Washington D.C.; Editor-in-Chief, Inter-American Law Review and recently published an article, “Liberty at the Cost of Constitutional Protections: Undocumented Immigrants and the Fourth Amendment.”
- Paul Witkiewitz: Received the CALI Award for Legal Communications; participated in Health Rights Clinic, headed up the Veterans Project; Law Clerk for US District Court & 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida; President, Student Advocates for Veterans.
