#UMGrad 2017 - 3L and Former Ireland President to Address Miami Law Students

In a rite that signals the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, nearly 400 Miami Law students will receive their J.D. and LL.M. degrees at the Watsco Center on Thursday, May 11 at 5:00 p.m.

3L Suarez to Address Class

Third-year Linet Suarez was chosen to address the graduating class at this year’s ceremony. Suarez, who received her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College, has dedicated herself to Miami Law in and out of the classroom and has given of her time to serve and enhance the experience of other law students each step of the way. She is Editor-in-Chief of the University of Miami Inter-American Law Review. Her article, “Liberty at the Cost of Constitutional Protections,” was published in the Fall 2016 issue. Suarez is a Miami Public Interest Scholar and an executive board member of the Society of Bar & Gavel. She received a HOPE Summer Public Interest Fellowship to work as a legal intern at Florida Legal Services in Miami in 2015, focusing on access to healthcare, and in 2016 she secured a HOPE Fellowship to work as an intern with NASA’s Office of the General Counsel in Washington, D.C.

Former President of Ireland to Speak

The graduating students will be addressed by Honorary Degree recipient Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland, and current president of the Mary Robinson Foundation-Climate Justice.
