Sarah Denis was selected by the ABA Business Law Section Diversity Clerkship Program to clerk at the Delaware Chancery Court in 2016. The Court is recognized as the nation's preeminent forum for the determination of disputes involving the internal affairs of the thousands of Delaware corporations through which a vast amount of the world's commercial affairs is conducted.

The 43-year-old is the head of the international tax practice at Norton Rose Fulbright, which used to be the second largest law firm in Caracas, Venezuela. Miami Law recently hosted a panel discussion about the future of the City featuring Stephen Owens, former President of Swire Properties in the U.S., and Manny Diaz, JD ’80, former mayor of Miami. The event “Miami 2040” was moderated by Miami Law students Feras Ahmed, a Miami Scholar, and Cullen Mahoney, a Real Property LL.M. candidate, who focused the conversation around some of the most pressing issues Miami faces going forward.

Four students from Miami Law’s International Moot Court team advanced to the semifinal rounds and won two Honorable Mention awards at Moot Madrid 2017, an international commercial arbitration competition that is conducted entirely in Spanish. International Arbitration J.D./LL.M. student Michael Rodriguez received an honorable mention as best oralist.

Bryan Thompson
In the opening scenes of “El Sueño,” Thompson's feature length film, two young Mexican families arrive in the United States. The parents are killed by an anti-immigrant hate group at the border, leaving two children orphaned in America. The film's narrative follows their efforts to gain legal status and become citizens of their adopted country.
