CORAL GABLES, Fla. (March 26, 2018) – The Global Entertainment + Sport Conference 2018, presented by the University of Miami School of Law’s Entertainment & Sports Law Society and the School of Education & Human Development’s Sports Administration Program, will be held on Thursday and Friday, April 5 and 6, 2018.

The unique conference focuses on the areas of both law and business with keynote addresses and panels with prominent attorneys and executives. Students, alumni, and attending professionals will have numerous networking opportunities throughout the forums.

“I am especially proud to be able to host keynote conversations exploring the legal, business and social ‘evolution’ of women’s professional golf throughout the world,” said Peter Carfagna, director of the sports track of Graduate Program in Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law at the law school and current chair of the LPGA’s Board of Directors.

A keynote by LPGA executive Liz Moore, chief legal officer; Communications Officer Heather Daly-Donofrio, chief of Tournament Operations; and playing professional Morgan Pressel, the youngest major champion in LPGA history, will set the stage for a conference that stimulates, educates and “allows the University of Miami be a thought leader in this space, and hope that you will agree with us that we have accomplished our goal again this year,” Carfagna said.

The two-day conference will drill down on topics such as the rise of athlete activism, innovations in stadium development, issues facing in-house counsels, and the impact of the new tax code for athletes, sports properties, and affiliates. Other discussions will cover financial planning and brand building for athletes as well as monetizing digital content and sports gaming. Speakers include Jorge Posada, former New York Yankees All-Star catcher; Arny Schreer, vice president and general manager of partnership development at ‎Home Team Sports, a division of Fox Sports Media Group; and ESPN sports analyst Maria Taylor.

“I am honored to be a part of the conference again this year, as we bring together leading sport industry experts to discuss the most important business, legal and social issues facing sport today,” Carfagna said.
