WHAT: The University of Miami School of Law 28th Annual Bankruptcy Skills Workshop presents useful basics on consumer bankruptcy practice in the Southern District of Florida. This year's panel on liquidation under bankruptcy will include Chapter 7 trustees with legal and/or accounting backgrounds, discussing “red flags” that trigger objections to a debtor’s discharge and non-exempt assets.
There will be panels on emerging Chapter 13 issues, recent Florida Supreme Court ruling governing ethical practice, and the always popular View from the Bench section with our Southern District of Florida Judges addressing issues in consumer bankruptcy and developing case law.
WHO: There will be discussions and presentations by U.S. Bankruptcy Judges, Clerk of Court, U.S. Chapter 7 & 13 Trustees, Ethics Panel, Staff Counsel for the Florida Bar, and seasoned debtor and creditor counselors.
WHEN: Friday, June 9, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Storer Auditorium at the University of Miami Business School, 5250 University Drive, Coral Gables. Parking is available at the Pavia Garage, accessible through the main gate of UM at Ponce de Leon Blvd. and Stanford Drive.
FEES: Registration fees support the Louis Phillips Scholarship Fund at the UM School of Law. Course materials, lunch, and parking are included in the cost of registration. Cost to register is $325, with discounts for UM Law alumni and government employees.
CLE: 7.5 Florida CLE credits, including 1 of ethics, pending approval.
