The Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers recently named Jan L. Jacobowitz President-Elect at its annual meeting in Chicago. She will automatically ascend to the presidency in August 2019. Jacobowitz also co-chairs APRL’s Future of Lawyering Committee and is a co-author of APRL’s advertising report, which served as a catalyst for the ABA’s recent amendments to the Model Rules of Professional Conduct that address advertising.
The Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers is a national organization comprised of more than 450 lawyers, law professors and judges holding an interest in lawyers’ professional responsibility, legal ethics, legal malpractice, and the evolving law of lawyering, primarily through the application of the rules of lawyer ethics to the practice of law.
Jacobowitz is a Lecturer in Law and the Director of the Professional Responsibility & Ethics Program at Miami Law. She has written and been a featured speaker throughout the country on topics such as Legal Ethics in Social Media and Advertising, Lawyer’s First Amendment Rights, Cybersecurity for Lawyers, Technology and the Law, Attorney Fees, and E-Discovery. In addition to PREP, Jacobowitz teaches Mindful Ethics: Professional Responsibility for Lawyers in the Digital Age and Social Media and the Law. She is the co-author of the book, Legal Ethics and Social Media, A Practitioner’s Handbook, published by the ABA in June 2017.
