CORAL GABLES, Fla. (November 14, 2018) – The University of Miami School of Law hosts the 3rd Annual Miami Law Class Action & Complex Litigation Forum Friday, December 7, 2018. The conference brings together leading judges, MDL panelists, practitioners, and scholars from around the country to discuss current topical issues and topics associated with multi-district class actions and complex litigation.
Keynote speaker at this year’s forum is one of the nation’s most highly acclaimed and sought-after attorneys, David Boies, chairman of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP. The super-lawyer is probably best known for United States v. Microsoft, Bush v. Gore, and his defense of gay marriage in Hollingsworth v. Perry. He is presently representing Harvey Weinstein and the health technology company Theranos.
The forum offers a unique perspective for attorneys looking to understand the latest issues and topics associated with multi-district class actions and complex litigation. Originally the brainchild of three leading Miami firms in trial, appellate, and class action law, Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, Podhurst Orseck, and Harke Law LLP, this forum brings together leaders in the legal, political and academic spheres to educate the public on how to better utilize and understand class actions.

Topics will include the discussion of a hypothetical class action case, class action from a judge’s perspective, hot topics in class action and mass tort litigation, and the settlement and resolution of class actions. And the forum will include judges from throughout the U.S. court system including Judge Eldon E. Fallon, Eastern District of Louisiana; Judge David Proctor, Northern District of Alabama; and Judge Amy J. St. Eve of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit.
