Lecturer in Law Jan L. Jacobowitz recently served as both moderator and panelist at the International Legal Ethics Conference, which was convened in at University of Melbourne Law School in Australia. The panel was titled, "West Meets East--The Role of Cultural Understanding in Effective Lawyering and Legal Education." ILEC is the premier international conference on legal ethics, and the flagship event of the International Association of Legal Ethics. The conference attracts a large international audience including scholars from a variety of disciplines, legal practitioners, judges and professional regulators from developed and emerging jurisdictions. Jacobowitz is the Director of the Professional Responsibility & Ethics Program at Miami Law. She has written and been a featured speaker throughout the country on topics such as Legal Ethics in Social Media and Advertising, Lawyer’s First Amendment Rights, Cybersecurity for Lawyers, Technology and the Law, Attorney Fees, E-Discovery, and Cultural Competence. In addition to PREP, Jacobowitz teaches Mindful Ethics: Professional Responsibility for Lawyers in the Digital Age and Social Media and the Law. She is the co-author of the book, Legal Ethics and Social Media, A Practitioner’s Handbook, published by the ABA in June 2017.
