Professor Mary Anne Franks, Dean’s Distinguished Scholar, gave the keynote lecture for the University of Miami’s Faculty Research Network's symposium, “Critical Conversations and the Academy,” Her presentation was titled "All the World's a University: The Real Campus Free Speech Crisis." Additionally, she delivered the Distinguished Lecture on the State of Internet Law at Ohio State Moritz College of Law (alongside James Grimmelmann) and presented at Duke Law School's Symposium on Gun Rights and Regulation Outside the Home. Professor Franks also had a chapter published in the book #MeToo and the Politics of Social Change. Professor Franks teaches criminal law, criminal procedure, First Amendment law, Second Amendment law, family law, and Law, Policy, and Technology. She is an Affiliated Faculty member of the University of Miami Department of Philosophy and serves as the President and Legislative & Tech Policy Director of the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating online abuse and discrimination.
