In celebration of her acclaimed tenure as Dean of Miami Law from 2009-2019, alumni, friends, and colleagues established an endowment to secure and promote the legacy of Dean Patricia D. White. The Patricia D. White Dean’s Endowment to Support Excellence in Innovation will exist in perpetuity to fund select initiatives at the discretion of the sitting Dean. Over $500,000 was raised thanks to lead gifts from Arlene and Wayne, J.D.’80, Chaplin, Debra and David, J.D. ’80, Humphreys, and the firm of Podhurst Orseck. Alumni leaders Patricia Redmond, J.D. ’79, and Tim Kolaya, J.D. ’08, served as co-chairs, motivating friends and graduates to contribute to the fund.

The successful conclusion of the fund was celebrated on May 17, 2019, at the de la Cruz Collection in an event hosted by Rosa and Carlos, J.D. ’79, de la Cruz Sr.

“Trish is a visionary and innovative leader,” said Hilarie Bass, J.D. ‘81, founder of the Bass Institute for Diversity and Inclusion, former co-president of Greenberg Traurig, the 2017-18 President of the American Bar Association, and the Chair of the University of Miami Board of Trustees. "At Miami Law, she did a phenomenal job of bringing in new and exciting faculty, and launching innovative programs that will benefit the school for years to come.”
