The Alma Jennings Foundation, a Florida not-for-profit foundation located in Coral Gables, has pledged $200,000 to Miami Law to enhance the student lounge and support the Miami Scholars Public Interest Program.

Established in 1966, the Alma Jennings Foundation has donated over $2 million to the University of Miami. At Miami Law, the Foundation has provided funds for the construction of the student lounge, which serves as a central hub for law students and is named in the Foundation's honor. The Foundation has also supported scholarships and professorships at the University.

The donation for the student lounge has been placed into an endowed fund for the continued enhancement of the student lounge and has been matched by the School of Law. The additional $100,000 donation will support the Miami Scholars Program, which brings outstanding students with a passion for public service to Miami Law to serve as social justice leaders.

In gratitude for the Foundation's support of the Miami Scholars Program, the suite of offices housing the Development and Alumni Relations office has been renamed the Alma Jennings Foundation Law Alumni and Development Suite.

Since the mid-seventies, a majority of the Foundation board members have been UM alumni who have earned their graduate degrees from Miami Law. Jeff Fine, A.B.'64, J.D.'67, is Chairman of the Foundation and serves on the School of Law Dean's Advisory Committee, a committee that advises and guides the sitting Dean on major issues, future directions, and fundraising efforts for the Law School.
