Kele Stewart Selected to Editorial Board of Clinical Law Review

Professor Kele Stewart

Professor Kele Stewart, Associate Dean for Experiential Learning, Professor of Clinical Legal Education and Co-Director of the Children & Youth Law Clinic, has been selected to join the editorial board of the Clinical Law Review, a semi-annual peer-edited journal devoted to issues of lawyering theory and clinical legal education. It is jointly sponsored by the Association of American Law Schools, the Clinical Legal Education Association, and the New York University School of Law.

The Clinical Law Review is considered the foremost scholarly journal for experiential education and accepts articles, essays, comments, and other types of shorter pieces on lawyering, clinical teaching, legal practice, or related subjects.

This honor follows AALS naming Stewart as a Bellow Scholar, and she also serves on the Executive Committee of the AALS Section on Clinical Legal Education. Stewart is also involved in CLEA and is a member of its New Clinics committee, and co-chair of its Awards committee.

When asked about the appointment, Dean Anthony E. Varona commented, “This appointment reaffirms Kele Stewart's prominence as a clinical scholar, educator, and practitioner. As our Associate Dean for Experiential Learning, Dean Stewart serves our students and the Miami Law community as a leader in clinical legal education and continues to take our clinical legal education program to new heights. I could not be prouder of all that she has achieved and will continue to achieve in the years to come.”

In Miami Law’s Children & Youth Law Clinic, Stewart supervises students who handle cases involving abused, abandoned, and neglected children. She also teaches courses on family and juvenile law and legal practice. Her scholarship is in the areas of child welfare, children’s rights, and clinical education. She responsible for administrative oversight of the Law Schools clinics, externships, and other practical courses.
