Global Law Firm Funds Annual Postgraduate LLM Scholarship for Argentine Lawyers

The international law firm Vivanco & Vivanco will award an annual scholarship to pursue a postgraduate degree at the University of Miami School of Law.

The Vivanco Foundation is offering a scholarship to a young Argentine lawyer to study an LL.M. at Miami Law. The Fulbright Commission will oversee administering the call and the selection of the finalist.

"Miami Law is very appreciative of the generosity of the Vivanco Foundation in establishing this scholarship which will further Miami Law's educational mission and increase opportunities for Argentine lawyers," says Caroline Bradley, professor of law and associate dean for international and graduate law programs at Miami Law.

Miami Law is home to nine LL.M. degrees, including U.S. and Transnational Law for Foreign-Trained LawyersInternational ArbitrationMaritime Law, and Taxation of Cross-Border Investment

The U.S. & Transnational Law degree program is Miami Law's general LL.M. for foreign-trained lawyers. The highly flexible program permits attorneys worldwide to choose courses in their area of interest from the law school's extensive curriculum to create a course of study according to their individual study interests and professional goals.

The cross-border taxation law degree program is tailored for non-U.S. lawyers and is ideal for students who expect international tax law to play an essential role in their professional careers, have a solid foundation in their domestic tax system, and have enough experience to bring their questions to the program.

The international arbitration and maritime law degree programs are ideal for U.S. and foreign-trained lawyers – whether newcomers to the field or experienced practitioners – looking to enrich their knowledge and skills as a platform for a successful career in these respective practice areas.

Fulbright Argentina and Vivanco & Vivanco, in collaboration with Miami Law, will be hosting an information session on this scholarship opportunity and Miami Law's LL.M. offerings Wednesday, December 21, at 11:30 a.m. ET/13:30 ART. RSVP here.

The scholarship will be available to law graduates from accredited Argentine universities. Candidates will be rigorously selected based on their academic and professional performance, English language fluency, and potential for future contribution to their communities and professional peers. This opportunity will be awarded to individuals who aspire to transform society and possess outstanding capabilities to execute their ideals, talented university graduates who value academic excellence and can excel in demanding and competitive environments, according to Latin American media outlet CE Noticias Financieras.

The creation of the Vivanco & Vivanco scholarship, sponsored through its Arsenio Vivanco Neira Foundation, will offer the winning candidate the opportunity to carry out a fully funded specialization in the United States, beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Vivanco & Vivanco, established in 1902, is based in Miami and has seven wholly owned branches in Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Canada, and London.

Vivanco & Vivanco partner Andrés Echevarría said that understanding between people is one of the most critical concepts promoted in this scholarship. "Someone from Buenos Aires may have a lot of access to American culture and the subsequent exchange is less, however if someone comes from a province with a more diverse cultural background, hypothetically, a greater cultural exchange can be achieved," he said.

"The expectations that we have for the candidates, are summarized in that the person meets the postgraduate objectives and that after graduation they can specify their academic and professional projects, enhancing the experience, and consequently leaving their mark where they develop," he said.

Application information is available through the Fulbright Argentina.
